Overview
Cy Goldberg, the firm’s founder, is retired from the practice of law. He had more than 30 years of experience in civil litigation and was a licensed and practicing attorney in the states of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. He was also admitted to practice in the Federal Courts of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. He was recognized for his work in state publications and was recognized as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer in civil defense litigation for well over a decade.
Cy obtained defense verdicts in countless jury trials during his career and maintains an active role guiding the firm on complex matters as needed. He successfully handled a wide range of multi-million dollar claims at both the trial court and appellate levels and alternate dispute resolution (ADR) hearings. He also successfully defended medical malpractice, premises liability and automobile liability claims, including claims with allegations of Bad Faith. His trial experience extended throughout multiple jurisdictions in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and California.
Cy represented a Fortune 200 company for twenty-five years and was chosen as national coordinating counsel for its asbestos litigation in 2001. He was responsible for developing defense strategies nationwide and supervising local counsel’s handling of over 20,000 claims. In this role, Cy tried and won numerous asbestos trials as well as handled expert witness preparation, corporate witness preparation and discovery issues.
Cy lectured on medical malpractice liability, bad faith, and insurance fraud. He also counseled clients on the establishment of risk management programs in the areas of medical malpractice and bad faith. In addition, he worked closely with special investigative units of several national clients to investigate and defend against insurance fraud, which includes the prosecution of civil RICO claims.
