Joseph Guzzardo is Of Counsel to the firm. Joe concentrates his practice in the areas of civil rights and related employment matters, including first amendment retaliation, wrongful termination, unreasonable use of force, malicious prosecution, abuse of process, and cruel and unusual punishment actions. 

Joe has tried over a dozen claims to verdict in Pennsylvania and New Jersey state and Federal court, including claims for wrongful death.  Joe is responsible for several leading federal court opinions regarding qualified and absolute immunity, excessive force under the 4th Amendment, and various evidentiary issues through his extensive motion practice. 

For more than 17 years, Joe has accumulated extensive experience as a defense and Plaintiff attorney, often providing him a unique perspective on his adversaries’ legal theory and anticipating his opponent’s next move. Joe has obtained many substantial settlements for his clients, including a $400,000 settlement 19-year-old pre-trial detainee who suffered sexual abuse while incarcerated. 

 In addition to 4th Amendment, 8th Amendment and, 14th Amendment matters, Joe is well versed in New Jersey’s conscientious employee protection act and Pennsylvania’s whistleblower law.  

During his free time, Joe enjoys spending time with his wife and his daughter and practicing and competing in Brazilian jujitsu.
