Mackenzie Dubbs is a Law Clerk at GMR. She has been with the firm for two years and consistently demonstrates strong legal research and analytical skills, which has helped contribute to the success of her team. Here is more about Mackenzie:
“I had only a vague idea of what I wanted to do with my career when I started undergrad. When I was growing up, I wanted to be an author! But my dad (rightfully, gently) told me that maybe I should look at a major with a little more career options post-grad, and to continue to pursue writing as a hobby. I went to Temple Business School where, to my surprise, they offered a Legal Studies program. In the first semester of my first year, I took an introductory legal studies course, and everything fell into place from there.
That was how my journey started, but what continues to inspire me are my classmates. I go to school with the evening division at Delaware Law, and among my classmates are some of the most inspirational women I have ever met. These ladies have full time jobs, as well as families and children to care for, and come to class prepared and ready to learn every night. I am continually impressed by them every day.
Everyone will be shocked when you tell them that you are studying law, and will ask you how difficult it is, to which I say: The practice of law is not necessarily difficult or complicated (though there are exceptions, as there always are…) but it is disciplined. Do not let anyone’s shock or doubt dissuade you from pursuing a legal career. If you want to be a lawyer and are willing to do what it takes to get there, you CAN and WILL do it. Believe in yourself, always.”
