GMR Wins Philadelphia Trip and Fall Jury Trial Involving Major Philadelphia Health System

GMR Partner Joe Petka won a trial where the plaintiff was a 64-year-old widow who tripped on a rug at the entrance of a Philadelphia Hospital. The plaintiff suffered a commutive inter-articular distal radius fracture with dorsal angulation, which required ORIF surgery and physical therapy. The plaintiff’s expert opined that she would have significant future medical expenses for future surgeries.

Joe did not dispute her injury but argued that the plaintiff failed to meet her burden of proof. The Philadelphia jury agreed that the plaintiff did not prove the health system was negligent and found in its favor and against the plaintiff.
