Elizabeth Cooney is an Associate at GMR. She started at the firm in August and has handled numerous arbitrations and depositions since, making her a valuable addition. Here is more about Liz:
“I decided to go into law because I really enjoyed history and government classes in high school, and thought it would be a good fusion of my two interests. When I started undergrad, I changed my plans a bit and began focusing on sports marketing. However, law school was always in the back of my mind. Lockdown gave me the opportunity to change paths back to where I originally wanted to go.
After spending 7 years in State College for college and law school, I wanted to move to Philadelphia to begin my career. GMR gave me an opportunity that I could not pass up.
My advice for women starting a career in the legal industry is to not be afraid of failure! Own your strengths and weaknesses and use every opportunity as a way to learn something new.”
